The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers at Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center to help take down unneeded plants. Volunteers wore gloves and used several tools such as clippers, chainsaws, and scissors to get rid of dead plants. Volunteers focused on goldenrods that were already dead, cutting them at their stems but keeping their roots so that they could regrow later. Asides from that, other sticks and grasses were also cut off to clear the area for the more helpful plants to regrow. Volunteers worked from 9:30 to 12:30 to help get rid of the dead plants.
Volunteers: Bryan Fan (3.5 hrs) and Jonathan Fan (3 hrs).
