2024 begins with a thrilling experience of attending the dragon dance at the Chinese traditional New Year gala sponsored by the General Association of Henan in Dallas. The gala was on February 10, the first day of the 2024 Chinese lunar calendar, and 2024’s animal symbol is a dragon, the typical traditional Chinese cultural totem. We were honored and excited to be part of the dragon dancers. And we were in charge of the yellow dragon. It was muscle work; our arms should be stable, controlling the long head with rhythmed waving. With loud and joyful music, both dragons successfully performed a happy beginning of the gala and a hopeful and bright beginning of 2024.
It was an unforgettable performance and an excellent volunteer experience in our lives. We are so cheerful to have such a chance to see our culture flourishing in America.
