AYLUS Syosset Puts On A Performance in Town Hall Oyster Bay to Celebrate The New Year of the Dragon, 2/12/24

On February 12, 2024, members from AYLUS in the Fortune Star Band (band from iSchool of Music and Art) performed in the Town Hall of Oyster Bay to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The event was from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

First, a sextet group from the band consisting of two violins, a viola, a flute, and two cellos played a traditional Chinese New Year song called 新春乐. Then, the band in its entirety, including middle and high schoolers Syosset, Jericho, and Plainview came together to perform three songs and an encore piece. The three songs were Lonesome Warrior, Sea of Stars, and Take On Me (Lonesome Warrior and Sea of Stars are Chinese pop songs that have been translated into English for everyone to understand), and the encore was Viva la Vida.

The band was welcomed with continuous applause and cheering from the audience. Many spectators closed their eyes, absorbed in the music while others included gestures that went along with the music. They showed great admiration and were attentive to hearing the music provided by the band.
