Roslyn Assisted in New York State Park Cleanup (17th) on January 27, 2023

On Saturday, January 27th, 2024, we went to Planting Fields for 3 hours.
On the breezy morning of January 27th, the Aylus Roslyn Branch went to Planting Fields for 3 hours. Upon arrival we were informed of the plants nearby, and how staff at Planting Fields wanted an area cut back for others to see the forest view without all the vines and plants, such as the Aralia spinosa, more commonly known as the Devil’s Walking Stick. We were able to help remove thorny vines from the ground, get rid of multiple Devil’s Walking Sticks (which were quite difficult to cut through, even with the saws that were provided), and clean up the dead wood and branches that were on the floor. When we finished, we had around 5 truckloads of wood and leaves, as well as a very nice view of the forest inside that was blocked by the plants before.Zihan Wang (2.5 hours)
