Frisco & Plano branch hosted 2nd fundraiser for Libraries with love project on April 15th, 2023

Reported by Jenny Wang

After our first fundraiser, we realized that the initial cost was more than we expected including cotton candy machine, different flavors of cotton candy floss sugar, cotton candy cones, snow cone machines and snow cone syrup, etc. During April, average daily high temperatures increase from 73°F to 80°F and Texas weather is best in April. So we decided to host another fundraiser at the busiest city park in Frisco in order to cover our initial cost as soon as possible. So we can soon make profit for the shipping cost of our mission “Libraries with Love”.

It was a beautiful Saturday on April 15th 2023. At 1PM eleven branch members met together at Frisco Commons park.  We were very excited to start our business of selling lemonade, hand-made gemstone bracelets, snow cones and cotton candy.  Due to the high demand snow cones were sold out in an hour and we had to buy another bag of ice.  Cotton candy was very popular too, however the strong wind almost blew the candy floss everywhere.  We were able to manage it by spinning the cone faster than usual.  Each branch member got a chance to practice how to make the cotton candy and the snow cone. Some of our members went out to talk to the people about AYLUS and why we did fundraiser for Libraries with Love project. We believed that as a nonprofit organization the most important measure of our effectiveness is the impact that we have in our communities and society as whole. We sold out of our lemonade and the event was successfully completed at 6PM.
