Pearland Branch Evaluation of Youth Mental Health Program on January 13th, 2024

On January 13, 2024, families associated with AYLUS Pearland were invited by the Light and Salt Association (LSA) to evaluate a youth mental health program they had designed. Sponsored by the Hogg Foundation, the program aims to enhance the mental well-being of minority youth, particularly those whose parents are first-generation Americans, by strengthening the bonds between youth and parents.

The program mandated the participation of youth alongside at least one parent, involving the completion of one pre-session survey and two post-session surveys. The first post-session survey was administered at the end of the program, while the second is scheduled for a month after the program’s conclusion.

During the session on January 13th, volunteers and their parents immersed themselves in teaching materials and interactive games. Their active engagement led to valuable feedback on the program’s effectiveness. LSA encouraged participants to follow the program’s suggestions and provide additional feedback a month later.

The involvement of these volunteers and parents in the evaluation reflects a strong commitment to the well-being of youth in the community. Their feedback will play a crucial role in shaping the program and ensuring its effectiveness in addressing the mental health needs of minority youth.

The dedicated volunteers committed three hours in January and have one hour pending in February after the final survey.
