Report #4 10/18/2023:
On 10/18/2023, Aylus Great Neck hosted its fourth weekly tutoring session for special needs children in the Great Neck Library Station Branch.
Our volunteers Francie Xia, Cynthia Luo, Ruiqi Liu, and Andrew Qian brought a variety of toys to play around with, including a variety of different Rubik’s cubes, a bag full of various Lego pieces, and a few strips of paper to fold into small paper stars. This captivated the children’s interest, and we helped them play around with what we had brought.
However, we also helped the children with their academic work, as we always do. We helped one of them do some reading, and then complete a short worksheet about the reading.
We ended our event after an hour, said goodbye to the children, cleaned up, and left.
