On September 30th, 2022, two members of AYLUS East Cobb Branch, Jack Xu and Jerry Xu, visited the Center for Children and Young Adults, a youth homeless center located in Cobb County. The purpose of the visit was to meet with residents and staff and to deliver a check for $1675 that was raised through the SAT camp organized by Jack and Jerry.
Meeting with Residents and Staff:
Upon arrival, Jack and Jerry were greeted by the director of the center and introduced to some of the residents and staff. They had the opportunity to speak with several young people who were currently residing at the center and learn about their experiences. They also had a chance to speak with the staff and learn more about the programs and services provided by the center.
SAT Camp Fundraising Efforts:
Jack and Jerry shared with the director how they had organized an SAT camp to raise money for the center. They explained that the camp was designed to help local high school students prepare for the SAT exam, with all proceeds going towards the center. They also shared some statistics on the success of the camp, including the number of students who participated and the amount of money raised.
Delivery of the Check:
Finally, Jack and Jerry had the pleasure of presenting the check for $1675 to the director and staff of the center. They expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to visit and learn more about the center, and for the important work that the staff and volunteers do to support young people in need.
