At an average total of $150,000, cancer treatment costs are more than four times higher than treatment for other common health conditions. Despite paying high costs for cancer treatment, some patients still suffer from inadequate treatment and are unable to receive a cure.

Canyon Crest Academy Be the Cure Club is a student-run club aiming to support chronic disease patients through fundraising and handmade-item donations, such as hats, scarves, and encouraging cards. The club cooperates with AYLUS to help more people in the community.

In hope to allow cancer patients to receive more efficient methods of treatment at a lower cost, Canyon Crest Academy Be the Cure Club, partnering with AYLUS, organized a Dance Camp for kids on August 11-14 to raise donations for cancer research at Moores Cancer Center, UC San Diego Health.

During the dance camp, the students learned the foundations of Ballet, Contemporary, and Hip Hop movement. The classes helped the students to strengthen their memory, coordination, posture, social and emotional expression, musicality, and confidence. In addtion, the students learned to dance in groups and individually.

The dance camp raised $200 in total, and taught 8 kids.

The following members participated in the donation event:

Angela Li (12 hours), Selina Pan (12 hours), Helena Jiang (4 hours)
