Pearland Branch Volunteered At SMILE Program on July 26th, 2023

On July 26th, members of the Pearland AYLUS volunteered at the SMILE program held by the Light and Salt Association. In the first class, the art teacher led the students in painting a sunset with a tree on the side. The students were required to mix colors together and use a clothing pin with a cotton ball to paint it.

The next class was origami taught by Taylor and Alex. Alex started off the class by showing the class a video tutorial on how to make a ninja star and then helping the students step by step to finish the project. Although the ninja star was quite difficult to make, the students were able to make it with the help of the volunteers.

The last class was Spanish. The students were handed a bingo sheet and when Spanish words were written on the board, they had to find the picture on the bingo sheet that matched the word on the board. In the end, the students were able to get several bingos.

Volunteers (6.5 hrs): Alexander Sun, Taylor Chan
Volunteers (6 hrs): Avnish Sekharan, Hosanna T, William Sun, Zide Liu
