On 4/22/2021, two members of Syosset AYLUS (Jasmine Chen and John Thach) taught the second course of a weekly 90 minute class for ESL learners interested in delving into/ analyzing various forms of popular English literature.
After a brief introduction segment, the tutors led the students through a vocabulary slideshow of ten words and consecutive Quizizz game in preparation for the day’s chosen literature: “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut. Vocabulary words were thoroughly explained. Then, students took notes on the movie “2081” which is based on “Harrison Bergeron”, for thorough understanding. In the latter half of class, students were led through the text itself and mispronounced words were corrected under the guidance of the tutors.
