San Diego Branch organized the sixth Ever Online Challenge Camp on May 23rd, 2020

Reported by Samuel Li

On May 23rd, San Diego Branch students hosted an online Challenge Camp tutoring program. The purpose of the activity was to allow older volunteers to tutor and teach younger students on various subjects of interest.

Due to the current circumstances, AYLUS San Diego moved their activity online, teaching the students through zoom video conferences. Due to several factors, this activity has received more volunteer participation, to a point where the entire lesson was several 1-on-1, 1-on-2, 1-on-3, and 1-on-four sessions. First, both the students and the volunteers joined a main zoom room, for attendance and a general briefing of how the activity will operate. Next, they split up into several break-out rooms and begin the lessons. At the end of the activity, everyone returned to the main zoom classroom for a final check, and to receive feedback for the new activity.

Through this event, young students were taught various subjects, including Chinese, English writing, Parliamentary debate, Piano practice partner, Saxophone, Cello, Java Coding, and Chess.

The following volunteers participated in the 6th online Challenge Camp: Nathan Yang, Sarah Li, Spencer Zhang, Haobin Cao, Edward Liu, Anthony Yao, Claire Jiang, Samuel Li, Jonathan Backues, Emma Li, Eric Lin, Anthony Jiang, Austin Pierce, Daniel Li, Qiyao (Alvin) Zheng, Luke Qiao, Harry Li, Katherine Huang, Selena Qiao, Liana Xie, and Anny Wang
