On April 24, 2021, members from the Irvine Branch of AYLUS participated in a volunteer distribution at the Someone Cares Soup Kitchen from 8 AM – 12 PM. They were elated to be able to help our community when it was needed most, especially as the pandemic continues to render households poor or even homeless.
“We first started by rinsing the produce that was going to be used to make food boxes for families. Then, we assembled the food boxes, which included frozen meats, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and other essential goods. In total, 98 food boxes were assembled for families. We then helped serve a few hot meals at the breakfast counter. Following that, we helped to clean up the kitchen and serving area by vacuuming and mopping. At the end of the shift we were able to see the truck leave with all of the boxes we packed!”
