The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) students continue their Bilingual Tutoring Program in November. The program allows GPA members to provide English/Chinese reading, writing, speaking, math, and communication to their students across the country.
They had conversations over various video calling platforms, such as Zoom or Facetime, with students about topics they are interested in, such as movies, games, and school. Their bilingual tutoring activities included:
GPA members Catherine Feng (2 hrs to organize the tutoring program) and Yixin Shirley Zhang teamed up to teach their students Jason and Octor English for 1.5 hrs through conversations.
Catherine Feng also taught her student Brandon English and Art for an hour on Sunday, 11/22, from 4:30 – 5:30 pm.
Feiying Qian and Siquan Qiu teamed up to teach their student English through conversations for 2 hours on Saturday, 11/21, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
Ryan Tian taught his student Aishia Chinese for half an hour on Monday, 11/23, from 7:00-7:30 pm. He also tutored for 2 hours on Friday, 11/20, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, teaching two kids English and Math. He tutored two different kids on Sunday, 11/22, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, on Math and English.
Elizabeth Jia prepared her lesson and taught her students English through reading comprehension for two hours on Saturday, 11/21.
Ruofei Olivia Mao taught her student Summer English through reading for an hour on Saturday, 11/21, from 1:10-2:10 pm.
Siquan Qiu tutored her student Chinese through reading and discussion for 25 minutes on Wednesday, 11/25, from 8:15-8:40 pm.
Abigail Bao (11/20, 3 hrs; 11/22, 3 hrs; 11/27, 3 hrs; 11/29, 3 hrs) taught her students in the subjects of English reading and writing, focusing on story-telling.
Allen Zhang taught English to a student in New York for 3 hours on 11/24.
