On October 24th, 2026, the AYLUS Roslyn branch volunteered as helpers at the Halloween event for children and families at East Hills Park in Roslyn. The event took place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., but volunteers arrived earlier to prepare everything. We helped set up different activities and attractions, including goodie bags, inflatable bounce houses, a pumpkin patch, a magic show in the playground, an escape room, a DJ, rides, and crafts. We wanted to make sure everything was ready so the kids and families could have fun and an enjoyable experience.
The first part of the volunteering experience was preparing for the event. Before the families arrived, we worked together to set up the different attractions and activities around the park. We prepared goodie bags for the children and helped set up the bounce houses, pumpkin patch, and other areas. We also made sure the magic show area and other attractions were ready for families. Preparation was important because everything needed to be organized and ready before the event began. By working together, we were able to get everything ready for the families to arrive.
The second part of this experience was helping during the event. Once the event started, the volunteers were responsible for making sure the activities ran smoothly and that everyone followed the rules. I was assigned to the magic show area in the playground and I helped manage the area, making sure everything went smoothly, and checking that everyone entering had a bracelet. This helped keep the magic show organized and allowed the children and families to enjoy the performance.
Volunteering at this Halloween event was a great experience because it allowed us to help our community and make the event fun and enjoyable for children and families. It also helped us develop important skills such as teamwork, patience, and responsibility. By helping with preparation and making sure the activities ran smoothly, we contributed to creating a fun and safe environment for everyone.
