On October 18, 2026, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch returned to Kings Point Park for another productive trail maintenance session.
While the cooler autumn weather brought the welcome relief of no mosquitoes, the volunteers faced new challenges. Working under the heavy shade of the tree canopy without sunlight to warm the area, the team endured chilly temperatures while handling cold metal tools without gloves.
Undeterred, the volunteers focused their efforts on the pathway passing by the baseball field—a section that had not been worked on in a long time. Although park staff had already done some maintenance on the path, the group swept the road and cleared remaining debris to ensure the trail was completely clear, safe, and accessible for athletes, visitors, and maintenance vehicles. Facing the cold with determination, the Great Neck Branch continues to demonstrate the core values of AYLUS through hands-on community service.
