AYLUS Garden City volunteers helped improve the trails at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary by laying woodchips around tree roots to help prevent visitors from tripping, especially when using the trails in the dark.
Daniel, Michael, Ewan and Mia used wheelbarrows to transport woodchips along the trails, then shoveled and spread the woodchips around exposed tree roots and leveled the area with rakes. Through this hands-on service project, volunteers contributed to trail safety while practicing teamwork, physical work, and responsibility for their local community.
