On Saturday, August 8th, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch held an event at the Great Neck Library in the multipurpose room for storytime and crafts. The first session opened with a storytime featuring three books: John read Two New Years, Christina read She Sang for India: How M.S. Subbulakshmi Used Her Voice for Change, and Andrew read Wat Takes His Shot: The Life & Legacy of Basketball Hero Wataru Misaka. After the storytime, the volunteers guided children through a variety of hands-on arts and crafts stations. Victoria led a crochet session, Andrew and William did origami, Christina taught the kids how to fold paper stars, and Rainie, Rebbeca, and Austin sculpted clay stegosauruses. Through these interactive readings and craft-making, the children learned about cultural stories while learning how to do crafts.
