The AYLUS Glen Head Branch proudly launched its first community service activity with a beach cleanup at Tappen Beach on August 2, 2026. This meaningful event brought together our youth volunteers with a shared goal of protecting the local environment and making a positive contribution to our community.
During the cleanup, volunteers worked along the shoreline and beach area, carefully collecting litter and debris left behind. They removed fishing hooks, plastic bottles, paper flyers, aluminum cans, Styrofoam pieces, cigarette butts, and other waste that could negatively impact marine life, the environment, and beach visitors. Through their teamwork and dedication, the volunteers helped create a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable beach for everyone.
In addition to improving the beach environment, this activity provided our members with a valuable opportunity to experience the importance of environmental awareness and community service. The children worked together, supported each other, and learned that even small actions can create a meaningful impact when people come together.
As the first official event of the AYLUS Glen Head Branch, the Tappen Beach Cleanup marked an exciting beginning to our journey of youth leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement. We are proud of our volunteers for their commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to serve, and we look forward to organizing more meaningful service projects in the future.
