On Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 5:00PM to 7:30 PM, volunteers from AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch participated in their 240th volunteer event. The project focused on designing and creating thank-you donation boxes for our upcoming Family Fun Day on August 1, 2026, to help raise community awareness and encourage donations that will support AYLUS service projects.
During this event, we worked together to brainstorm creative ideas, collect and decorate recycled boxes, and design eye-catching donation boxes that could attract community members’ attention. Each volunteer used their own creativity and imagination to draw meaningful pictures, add colorful decorations, and create unique designs on the outside of the boxes. Through teamwork and collaboration, we transformed simple boxes into welcoming donation stations that could inspire people to participate and support our mission.
These donation boxes will be placed at different game stations during our Family Fun Day, where community members can enjoy fun activities while also contributing to a meaningful cause. The funds collected will help support future AYLUS community service projects, especially our Africa Library Project, which provides books and helps cover the shipping costs needed to establish libraries in underserved communities across Africa. This project taught us that even small creative efforts can help make a larger impact when the community works together.
We are grateful to all of the volunteers who contributed their time, creativity, and teamwork to this project. We would also like to thank our Parent Advisors and everyone who continues to support AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch. Their encouragement and dedication make it possible for us to continue serving our community and expanding projects such as the Africa Library Project. We look forward to making a positive impact together through our upcoming Family Fun Day and future volunteer events.
