On the afternoon of Saturday, July 25, 2026, members of AYLUS Great Neck
Branch gathered at the Great Neck Main Library to host a reading and craft
program for local families. The event featured storytelling along with
hands-on arts and craft activities, creating an engaging, overall educational
experience for participants. The program began with storytime, starting with
V olunteer Goldman Tian, who read Mamie Tape Fights to Go to School;
V olunteer Ryder Li, who read My Name is Long as a River; and finally
V olunteer Jiangyuan Yu, who read Bao’ s Doll. Following storytime,
volunteers organized a variety of hands-on activities. Jolynn Li helped
coordinate the program and assisted participants throughout the entire event.
Amber Zhou, Ryder Li, and Andrew Li helped in craft activities such as
painting glass and origami, developing skills of coordination and creativity
while creating a variety of objects. Chloe Wang, Alice Wang, and Rainie
Cheng helped in crochet, developing skills relating to patience and
concentration. In total, nine AYLUS members contributed to the event,
working together to provide a meaningful experience for community
members.
