On Sunday, May 31, 2026, members of the Newtown Branch of AYLUS dedicated their time from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM hosting a college information session at the New Life Christian Church (4 Freedom Dr, Newtown, PA). As part of a broader series of information session events where guest speakers give talks about their activities and experiences, this event specifically invited graduating seniors to talk about the college application process. In order to provide as much helpful application advice to the community, AYLUS invited 4 local graduating seniors to talk about their experiences: Benjamin Wang (Harvard University), Rhianna Zhang (Princeton University), Massimo Centofanti (University of Pennsylvania), and Jason Loh (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
4 volunteers organized and hosted the information session event. Albert and Justin were the host speakers, introducing the event to the audience and introducing the guest speakers as well. They were also in charge of technical troubleshooting, like making sure the microphones and the presentation slides worked. Overall, these two volunteers helped ensure the event moved smoothly and transitioned from point to point. The other two volunteers, Ivan and Randall, were in charge of running the question-and-answer portion of the information session. By keeping watch over the audience, they were able to bring the microphones to the people with questions, making it so that there was clear and efficient communication. In addition, they were also responsible for leading attendees of the information session into the building, ensuring a smooth event where everything was organized.
Overall, the event was very successful, as parents and students gained insightful knowledge about the college application process. The four guest speakers shared a lot of valuable information, and AYLUS volunteers made sure this happened smoothly and in a timely manner. In addition, AYLUS members’ handling of the Q&A allowed for any audience curiosities or concerns to be answered.
