This Saturday, May 30, 2026, everyone volunteered at the Richardson Feed My Starving Children location and had a blast on the packing team. We worked at table 1, and everyone had a different, equally important job. Some of us scooped the rice, vitamins, soy, and vegetables while others packed the rice, weighed it, and sealed it.
It was backbreaking work, but worth it for the 60 kids that we fed for an entire year! We danced to the rhythm and songs during the different competitions–one of the groups even took first with 50 bags sealed in 5 minutes!
Our group packed way more than average, with more than 20 boxes than what was expected. Even though the work is tedious, we maintained a positive attitude and continued humming to “Shut Up and Dance with Me” and 2010’s throwback songs.
Towards the end, we helped clean up and sweep the floors, cleaned the tables, and finished one last box (since we went on a Saturday!). Finally, we ended the night off with a prayer and blessed the food and the children that would be receiving it!
Overall, the night was extremely rewarding and filled with lots of joy and good spirit as we all cheered for each other every time we finished a box!
