On February 14, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, seven members of the AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at the Chinese Community Center 2026 Lunar New Year Festival.
The Chinese Community Center is a multi-ethnic organization with the aim of bringing together the East and West through providing families with educational, cultural, and social service programs. Some core service programs include an ESL program, a Senior Employment Program, a Benefits Enrollment Center, homebuyer education, a Financial Opportunity Center, and free tax preparation.
During this event, volunteers were assigned to the PTO food booth area, where they helped take orders and provide and sell food. Some AYLUS members were also assigned to help with volunteer registration, where they helped sign in volunteers and show them to their service sites. At the end of the festival, volunteers helped clean up their areas and break down the tents.
Seven AYLUS volunteers participated in this event: Elaine Sun, Derek Sun, Jin Zhou (8:30 am- 12:30 pm, 4 hours); Justin Wang (8:30 am -2:30 pm, 6 hours); Yuze Han, Yiqian Long, Yunfei Zhang (12 pm -4 pm, 4 hours)
