On 5/2/2026, 3 members of the AYLUS Newtown Branch volunteered at the Gravity Hill Farm. It is an organized non-profit farm that plants fruits and vegetables for someone who needs them.
It was a joyful experience. Our job was to plant potatoes; the farmer taught us how to distinguish rotted potatoes and how to plant potatoes. Everyone was energetic and interested. During the potato planting process, one of our members invented a quick method, and after he promoted it, everyone quickly started using this time-saving method. Time flew by, and soon it was noon. We were exhausted and drenched in sweat after only two hours of planting, yet the farmers had to repeat these tedious and time-consuming processes every day. This made us all realize how hard-won our food is. This experience not only improved our life skills but also made us cherish the food we have even more.
