On April 26 between 1:30 and 4:30 pm, AYLUS members volunteered at SUNY Old Westbury to help out the Long Island Chinese School. Each volunteer provided assistance to the teacher; they checked student’s work, printed papers, and ensured all students were paying attention. When a student was confused with the work, an AYLUS volunteer aided them.
Later, from 3:30 – 4:30 pm, AYLUS volunteers transitioned from their classroom setting to the extracurricular clubs. Even though Coach Garett was out, Coach Tang was able to provide a great lesson on sacrifices and endgames. AYLUS volunteers helped set up boards, monitor games, and even play a few matches with the kids. Afterward AYLUS volunteers cleaned up the classroom, ensuring everyone had a safe, fun, and exciting learning experience.
