AYLUS Great Neck Branch Holds AAPI Event at the Main Library 53rd (4/18/26)

On April 18th, from 3:45 to 5:00, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch volunteers held an AAPI event at the main library. There was storytelling and arts and crafts activities. The event began with story time, where volunteers read three separate books to the children. Nathan started by reading “Abuelita’s Gift”, followed by Ryder reading “Sparkles for Sunny”, and finally, Andrew read “A New year’s reunion”. Throughout story time, our volunteers engaged with the children through questions about the book to make it more interesting. After story time, participants engaged in various hands-on and creative activities, such as making hot dogs out of clay with Jolynn and Ryder, learning how to crochet with Chloe, Victoria and Rainie, and making origami animals with Rebecca, Andrew, Nathan, and Jiangyuan. In the end, both our participants and volunteers left with a positive experience. The children got to train their motor activities and everyone had a great time! We thank everyone for coming today, and we hope to see you next time!
