AYLUS Roslyn Volunteers at Nassau County Mid-Aulumn Festival (1st) on October 5th, 2025

On Sunday, October 5th, AYLUS’s Roslyn Branch assisted the Greater Roslyn Association for Chinese Enrichment (GRACE) at Eisenhower Park, from 2 to 6:30 P.M. GRACE is a nonprofit organization that strives to support Chinese-American families in Roslyn through community service and education. During our service, we held a stand and offered various services to those who came to our stand. For instance, we offered sweets/fortune cookies and tattoos, along with the distribution of lanterns. As a result, we garnered smiles and gratitude from people who were given lanterns or our services. However, we exhibited many challenges, such as the lack of experience, instruction, or knowledge. Nonetheless–we were able to adapt to such weaknesses in a short span of time, and were ultimately able to get the gist of the procedure. For example, we practiced painting tattoos on ourselves before we figured out the right amount of water, paint and glitter. It is important that one can quickly adapt and socialize with their colleagues or others to prepare for such a service. Our service at Eisenhower Park taught us that community service ultimately boosts one’s mood and satisfaction. We cannot wait to volunteer and assist those in need next time!

Members who Participated:

Ryan Chen (2 hours), Tiffany Chen (4 hours), Audrey Peng (4 hours),  Kristen Zheng (4.5 hours), and Leo Zheng (4.5 hours).
