On September 23rd, 2025, AYLUS Oakland Gardens branch held its 194th event from 1:45 AM to 3:45 PM at the Forest View Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. With the help of Eunice Suriel, members performed a variety of songs for the residents at Forest View.
To begin the concert, Iokseng, Ioklee, Ioknor, and Hsinhui played Entertainer. Next was Selena, the youngest member in our branch, who played the piano pieces Alouette and Cinderella’s Waltz with Ms. Liao. After her, Sophia played Together with Old Friends and Folk Song Suites on the flute. Just like Selena, Iokting, another one of our younger members, played Home on the Range with Ms. Liao and March Militaire. Continuing on the piano, Rachel played Lunar Eclipse and Campbell are Coming. Then, when Vicki played Strangers in the Dark on the trumpet, all of the residents immediately recognized it and began singing along. Stephanie played Light and Blue and Prelude in 18th-Century Style on the piano, while Ryan played the Night Errant. Switching to the flute, Stephanie also played On Wings of Song. Martin played Il porco rosso on the piano, Ricky played Alexander’s Ragtime Band on the guitar, and Jason played Copland the Cat and the Mouse on the piano. Zhenyilang played Badinaire and the Doraemon theme, two upbeat pieces, on her flute, and Ashlee played Impromptu in B minor by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. To finish the concert, the quartet played Amazing Grace and What a Wonderful World, which were both well known among the residents.
Throughout the concert, it was touching to see the residents dance and sing along to the music while also enjoying what the members played. Our members really put a lot of time into practicing, and it was great to see that all their effort payed off. We would like to thank Eunice Suriel for giving us the opportunity to perform and for also treating our members to some delicious ice cream. We also really appreciate all of the residents for listening today.
