On August 24, 2025, the AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch was invited to attend the “Careers and Vision” Youth Forum hosted by Fifth Avenue Entrepreneurs Club from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event was to talk about future careers for the young members of that community and was the 189th event for AYLUS Oakland Gardens Branch.
Fifth Avenue Entrepreneurs Club invited a large multitude of high schoolers to talk about their futures and what they planned for it. Some high schoolers talked about volunteer groups and how they would make the world a better place. An example of this was Max Sun talking about a Pulse Point CPR Club. Other high schoolers talked about law. Victoria Pun told us about wanting to teach people about law and how they could use it to benefit themself. The whole goal of this was providing examples of futures to the kids in the audience to help them design their own life.
When the kids were done speaking, they introduced us to adults that have been successful in life. Some of these people were lawyers, Directors of the Financial Investment Department, filmmakers, doctors, and Senior Software Architects. These people were very successful in their careers. These adults talked about where they got the idea for the job. Some of them got the idea from their parents while others claimed that they enjoyed it after having an internship. Their goal of coming to the event was to teach us their different jobs and help interest us about them. This is the starting point for dreams to set sail and also the stage for young people to inspire each other and create a better future together.
In the end, we learned that to design our own life, no matter what kind of job we pick, we must love exploration, care about society, and have independent thinking abilities to be successful. We would like to thank the Fifth Avenue Entrepreneurs Club for inviting us to go to this event.
