Early Saturday morning, before the heavy snow began, our youth volunteers arrived at Bayard Cutting Arboretum to join the Saturday Stewards program. Working along the Conifer Garden Trail, we focused on removing invasive plant species that threaten the health of native vegetation.
With dedication and teamwork, we successfully cleared over 800 pounds of English Ivy and Catbriar, which are known for overtaking trees and shrubs, depriving them of essential nutrients and sunlight. This effort not only helps maintain the Arboretum’s biodiversity but also preserves the beauty of the natural landscape for visitors to enjoy.
Despite the cold and approaching snowfall, our volunteers remained committed to their mission, demonstrating the power of community-driven environmental stewardship. We look forward to continuing our efforts in future conservation projects!
