AYLUS Syosset Members help at Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center 7/26/24

On 7/26/24 members of AYLUS syosset volunteered at Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary. The volunteers engaged in several significant activities. First, the volunteers carried heavy rocks and placed them on the sides. This is important because the Sanctuary holds a summer camp with little kids and placing these rocks prevents the children from entering potentially dangerous areas. After, the volunteers cleaned up leaves and pulled out weeds. Removing weeds is very important as it can maintain soil conditions. After members finished pulling out weeds they shoveled woodchips onto the main pathways of the sanctuary. These wood chips were crucial to support the native plant species of the sanctuary, reduce the number of weeds, and retain moisture within the soil.

Members that participated include (2h each): Jonathan Bao, Justin Lin, Anson Ye, Vincent Ye, Riley Lin, Ryan Lin, Kingston Lu, Felix Zheng, Rachel Zhang, and Nicole Zhang.
