On July 13, 2024, Pearland volunteers taught a bucket drumming session at GiGi’s Playhouse Houston. Despite a hurricane and massive power outage, which limited attendance to two children, the session was engaging and productive. This was the first bucket drumming session for these two young kids. The volunteers began by introducing the different sounds produced by various parts of the bucket: center, rim, and side. They then led the “Red and Green” game to help participants practice playing loudly and stopping on cue. As usual, the session included drumming along to a favorite song. The event concluded with the volunteers distributing temporary tattoos and stickers to the participants.
