On June 21st, the AYLUS San Fernando Valley branch volunteered at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, checking produce before organizing them into 5-pound-bags to be given to those in need. Volunteers were also given an extra hour of volunteer service for the drive there. The four volunteers — Jason Xie, David Wan, Subhash Srinivasa and Vaibhav Sridhar — set up together at a station, going one-by-one through boxes of corn and, later, peaches.
Our volunteers, together with the many others there, worked on a total of 5,580 pounds of produce and 8,496 kits! Great job to everyone! Our team planned and organized this event through several emails with the Food Bank – scheduling a convenient date and time with them. Huge thanks to the food bank for letting us volunteer as a group with them. We look forward to doing more food bank events in the near future!
