On June 19, 2023, members of the Frisco and Plano branch continued to package books to ship to Africa for the ongoing Libraries of Love project, which worked towards building free libraries for impoverished communities in Africa (More information at https://librarieswithlove.org/). Previously, members had worked hard to collect and sort thousands of books into their respective grade categories, and the next step was to package the books in preparation for shipment.
Members of the branch packaged 216 books, totaling up to about seven boxes for shipment. The process was done by carefully sealing the boxes with tape, ensuring there were no holes, and then filling them up with books from the same grade range. Members also had to ensure that the boxes didn’t exceed the weight limit of 30 pounds, with all the information simultaneously recorded. Despite these many steps, the branch’s members were able to collaborate and worked in teams to efficiently complete the task at hand, and we’re proud of the hard work and teamwork that was put in place to achieve this.
