The Step 1-2-3 Mentor for Life Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit mentoring program designed to provide training in daily life skills. It aims to provide students with consistent academic support and encouragement by establishing goals, promoting extracurricular activities as well as academic excellence, and teaching students how to be mentors to their peers.
On January 16, members of the AYLUS Birmingham Branch volunteered for MLK Day 2023: Project Feed The Homeless, organized by the Step 1-2-3 Mentor for Life Initiative. Volunteers helped at least 200 homeless families in Birmingham by assembling sack lunches, writing thoughtful notes, and distributing them to local homeless shelters in time for the holidays.
