On October 25, 2026, from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m., AYLUS Glen Head Branch volunteers gathered at the local public library to create handmade Halloween-themed greeting cards for senior residents in the community. The activity provided us with an opportunity to express our creativity while preparing thoughtful messages for seniors who may appreciate a special reminder that they are cared for and remembered.
We designed each card with colorful illustrations, festive Halloween decorations, cheerful patterns, and encouraging notes. Some cards featured pumpkins, ghosts, bats, autumn leaves, and other seasonal images, while others included warm messages wishing recipients happiness, comfort, and a joyful Halloween. By carefully decorating and personalizing the cards, we hoped to bring smiles and brighten the days of senior residents.
The completed cards were delivered to senior living communities, where they were shared with residents during the Halloween season. Although the cards were simple handmade gifts, they carried meaningful messages of kindness and connection.
This community service project reflects AYLUS Glen Head’s commitment to promoting compassion, creativity, and intergenerational connections. It also encouraged young volunteers to work together, share our talents, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Through this thoughtful activity, AYLUS Glen Head volunteers demonstrated that kindness can be expressed in many ways and that a handmade card can bring comfort, encouragement, and holiday cheer to seniors in the community.
