On October 25, 2026, a team of 7 volunteers from the AYLUS Great Neck Branch gathered at Kings Point Park for another trail maintenance service project. Working together on a cold autumn day, volunteers cleared debris and obstacles while flattening sections of the park’s walking trails to make the paths safer and more accessible for everyone visiting the park.
During the project, we worked together as a team using rakes and shovels to spread out heavy piles of mulch all along the walking paths. We spent extra time moving big, uneven wood chips that were blocking the trails, making sure the ground was flat and smooth. We also filled in deep tire tracks left behind by park maintenance trucks so people wouldn’t trip over them. Now, families, residents, and visitors can walk, jog, and run through the park safely without worrying about tripping over rough spots or big obstacles.
Working on the trails was a great way for us to help out our town and take care of local nature. Through projects like this, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch will keep doing its best to help the community better.
