AYLUS Greater Triangle [Open Sky Book Club: Four Years of Marathon Read Aloud] 09/27/2026

Reading Together, Growing Together

For four years, we have been committed to helping young learners from immigrant families and households where English is a second language develop stronger reading skills and a love of learning through our Open Sky Book Club.

As AYLUS volunteers, we organize regular online reading sessions to help elementary, middle, and high school students improve their reading comprehension, expand their vocabulary, and gain confidence in English. Our online platform allows us to reach more students in our community and surrounding areas, making it easier for families to participate regardless of their location.

The most rewarding part of this four-year journey has been witnessing our students’ progress. Many of those who have participated regularly have made significant improvements in their English Language Arts (ELA) assessments. Their achievements have earned praise from parents and teachers, and some teachers have even recommended other students to join our program.

Through this long-term commitment, we have learned that meaningful change takes patience, dedication, and consistency. Every reading session gives us an opportunity to encourage young learners, celebrate their progress, and help them overcome language barriers.

As we continue this reading marathon, we hope to reach more children, inspire a lifelong love of reading, and make a lasting difference in our community.

Together, we believe every book opens a new door, and every young reader deserves the opportunity to succeed.
