On September 27, 2026, the AYLUS Roslyn branch volunteered at the Chinese Cultural Association of Long Island (CCALI) from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During our time there, we participated in different activities, helped with preparations, and worked together to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Throughout the afternoon, we helped prepare materials and assisted with the activities that were planned. We worked together with the other volunteers and helped wherever we were needed. By helping with different tasks, we were able to make the activities more organized and enjoyable for everyone.
One of the activities we participated in was making mooncakes. We first picked out the type of base we wanted to use for our mooncakes. After choosing our bases, we used molds to shape the mooncakes and create different designs on them. We followed the instructions and worked carefully to make sure our mooncakes were properly shaped. This was a fun hands-on activity that also allowed us to learn more about Chinese culture and the traditions surrounding mooncakes and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
In addition to making mooncakes, we participated in other activities and spent time working together as a group. Everyone helped contribute to the activities, whether it was preparing materials, cleaning up, or assisting others. Working together made it easier to complete the tasks and created a positive and welcoming environment.
Overall, volunteering at CCALI was a fun and meaningful experience. We were able to participate in hands-on activities, learn more about Chinese culture, and spend time working with other members of AYLUS. Through this experience, we developed important skills such as teamwork, responsibility, patience, communication, and cooperation.
