On Saturday, September 19, 2026, AYLUS San Clemente Branch members volunteered at the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Sendero Field Park in Rancho Mission Viejo. The event brought community members together to raise awareness and support the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
Our volunteers began the morning assisting in event setup by wiping down wet tables and seats around the field. They also helped prepare and maintain the walk route by removing broken flower decorations that lined both sides of the path and replacing them with new ones. Members then stood at the entrance parking area to enthusiastically welcome arriving seniors and other walk participants, handing out Alzheimer’s awareness stickers that stated “I Walked.” When the walk began, volunteers cheered on participants with pom-poms, cowbells, clappers and Alzheimer’s awareness signs. They continued cheering as walkers returned through the finish line, encouraging the supportive and energetic atmosphere of the walk. After the walk concluded, members assisted with cleanup by taking apart and organizing signs that had been removed from where they’d been staked along the walk route.

Together, our nine volunteers dedicated 45 hours to supporting the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Through preparing the route, welcoming participants, encouraging walkers, and helping with cleanup, our members contributed to a meaningful community event while helping raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.
