San Diego Branch Hosted the Solution for Hope Online Tutoring Class on Aug 24 – Aug 31, 2026

Coop with Libraries With Love, the AYLUS San Diego Committee kicked off the 2026-2027 Solution for Hope online classes for raising funds to build libraries in Africa. The Tutoring Class Activity continued in the week of August 24, 2026 – August 31, 2026.

The goal of tutoring classes is to help ESL students in the local area to quickly grow accustomed to communicating in English and get the help necessary for their schoolwork. In order to help them conquer their language problems, we’re hosting this event to have volunteers help the ESL students. The lessons will be flexible times based on the schedules of volunteers and students and be conducted on Zoom. We hope that with this event, we can help these ESL students adapt to their new surroundings and gain confidence.

Through this activity, AYLUS volunteers were able to teach 6 students a wide array of topics and led them through many different discussions, each tailored to suit the students’ individual needs. Each class is a one-on-one private lesson, with volunteers specifically matched with students.

Isha Nemani taught 1 on 1 Math for 2 hours on August 29, 2026.

Sofie Duan taught 1 on 1 History for 2 hours on August 29, 2026.

Claire Chen taught 1 on 1 Math for 2 hours on August 29, 2026.

Yaalini Kathiravan taught 1 on 1 Math for 2 hours on August 29, 2026.

Kenneth Chen taught 1 on 1 Math for 2 hours on August 29, 2026.
