On Friday, August 28, 2026, from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., AYLUS Oakland Gardens held its 252nd volunteer event by participating in a book donation and packing project supporting Books for Taiwan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, packing, and shipping donated English books to communities in Taiwan.
During the activity, our young volunteers helped sort and organize donated books, carefully packed them into boxes, and became “little movers” by carrying the boxes and loading them onto the organization’s vehicle for shipment. Working together, our volunteers completed the task with enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility.
Books for Taiwan has been collecting and shipping donated English books since 2001 and has shipped more than 1.2 million books to Taiwan. The books are distributed to schools, libraries, and other communities, helping children and families gain greater access to English reading materials.
Through this volunteer activity, our young volunteers learned the importance of teamwork, responsibility, generosity, and community service. By sorting, packing, and carrying the books, they helped give these books a second life and an opportunity to bring knowledge, reading, and new possibilities to children and communities in Taiwan.
This activity reminded our volunteers that a book can open a door to knowledge, imagination, and new opportunities.
