Achieve Together: Community Soccer Classes in June 29-Jul 9, 2026

After two successful classes in June, our community soccer program continued to grow and thrive throughout July. Participation steadily increased, with more children joining each week, including some as young as two years old. Lead volunteer Dwayne Li-Williams designed a variety of age-appropriate games and activities that kept the sessions fun and engaging while helping participants develop fundamental soccer skills, physical strength, coordination, and teamwork.

6/29 Soccer Session

Five children attended the session. The focus was on developing fundamental soccer skills, including throw-ins, shooting, and dribbling. Participants practiced proper throw-in techniques by passing the ball to one another as they would in a real game. They also completed passing drills using cones to improve accuracy and coordination. The session concluded with dribbling exercises from one side of the field to the other to strengthen ball control.

7/2 Soccer Session

One child attended the session. The lesson focused on passing fundamentals to build confidence and improve ball control. The participant also practiced heading techniques, learning proper form and positioning for aerial play.

7/6 Soccer Session

Four children attended the session. The group participated in interactive games, including Eagle Catches the Chicks and Rock, Paper, Scissors, which encouraged teamwork, agility, and engagement. The instructional portion of the session focused on improving throw-in techniques through targeted drills and repetition.

7/9 Soccer Session

Five children attended the session. The focus was on physical conditioning and teamwork. Participants built strength and cooperation through a tug-of-war activity, practiced passing drills to improve accuracy and communication, and completed jogging exercises to improve stamina and endurance.

Overall Impact

These sessions provided a positive and inclusive environment for children of different ages and skill levels to learn and enjoy soccer. Through a combination of skill-building drills, physical conditioning, and interactive games, participants strengthened their soccer fundamentals, improved fitness and coordination, and developed teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The continued growth in attendance reflects the program’s success in fostering both athletic development and community engagement.
