On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch hosted its weekly AAPI event at the Great Neck Main Library. The event started off with three volunteers reading aloud books to the children. The reading began with Ryder reading “I’ll Go and Come Back.” Jiangyuan’s reading of “Tic-Tac-Toe Chicken.” Concluding with “Baba’s Peach Tree” read by Nathan. Once the readings ended the children were presented with the options of origami, crochet, and clay. Amber, Megan, and Rebecca helped teach the children how to make adorable paper sharks as well as create unique poke art. Jolynn and Catherine taught the children how to make creative clay dinosaurs. Rainie helped guide the children with crochet. Overall, the event was productive and an enjoyable experience for both the children and the volunteers present.
