On the afternoon of July 13, AYLUS Morris Branch proudly partnered with the Helping Hands nonprofit organization to host a Fight Hunger community service event. Through the generosity and dedication of our members, we collected over 35 pounds of canned and nonperishable food to support local families experiencing food insecurity.
After gathering the donations, AYLUS volunteers delivered the food to the Helping Hands Family Center, where they worked alongside staff members to organize and sort the food pantry shelves. Volunteers carefully grouped items by category, checked expiration dates, and arranged the shelves to make the pantry more accessible and efficient for both staff and families seeking assistance. By helping organize the pantry, our members ensured that donated food could be distributed more quickly to those in need.
Food insecurity continues to affect many individuals and families in our community. While donating food is an important way to help, volunteering time to support local organizations is equally valuable. This event gave our members the opportunity to better understand the daily operations of a community food pantry and the teamwork required to serve neighbors with dignity and compassion.
AYLUS Morris Branch is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Helping Hands and make a meaningful difference together. We sincerely thank every member and family who donated food, volunteered their time, and contributed to the success of this event. Their kindness and commitment demonstrate the power of youth leadership and community service.
As we continue our mission of serving the community, AYLUS Morris Branch looks forward to organizing more service projects that address local needs and inspire others to get involved. Together, every donation, every volunteer hour, and every act of kindness helps build a stronger, more caring community. We encourage everyone to join us in future events and continue making a positive impact, one act of service at a time.
