AYLUS Great Neck Branch Volunteered Farmers Market Fundraiser #14 6/28/2026

On Sunday, June 28th, AYLUS Great Neck participated in the Farmers Market.

Before the event, some volunteers came early to help set up and arrange the items for the stand, earning them an extra half-hour of volunteering. During the event, volunteers were assigned a variety of different jobs across two two-hour shifts; 9:00 am – 11:00 am and 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Some worked as cashiers and kept track of the sales made. Volunteers created balloon animals—on site—kept track of the crochet items we had available, and provided face painting.  A new activity introduced today was the ring toss. Customers could pay for a certain amount of rings and the amount of points accumulated would determine what kind of prize they received. For example, 10 points won hair clips, pouches, or other trinkets, 20 points won a balloon animal, 30 points won a face painting, and so forth. The most popular items were the crochet penguins crafted by the very members of AYLUS. Through the hard work of the volunteers, a net profit of $188 was made; this money will be donated to the Adventures in Learning nonprofit organization. Overall, although improvements could be made in areas of marketing and such, the Farmers Market Fundraiser was a success, proving to be a meaningful experience for volunteers.
