On Saturday June 13, 2026, AYLUS Roslyn volunteered at CP Nassau’s residents homes from 1 PM-4 PM.
When we first arrived, we introduced ourselves and started to unpack our activities. Our first activity of the day was baking. We brought ingredients to make brownies and the residents were very excited to help us make them and then enjoy them! We started out by putting all the dry ingredients into a big bowl and proceeded with pouring the wet ingredients such as egg, oil, and water. We helped guide the residents and helped them put and pour all the ingredients. After that each resident helped with mixing the ingredients together to create the batter. While this was happening the oven was preheating up to 325 degrees fahrenheit. After that we poured and spread the batter out evenly and put it into the oven to bake.
While the brownies were baking, we decided to do some arts and crafts. We made acrylic suction cups with designs that the residents each picked out to their liking. We then helped color in each piece with the residents. After that we let each one dry. Then we decided to pass some time by building puzzles. Since it was a brand new box of puzzles and since they were now 100 piece puzzles, it took longer than normal to complete. Although it was harder, we worked together to complete each puzzle. By this time the brownies were done and cooled down so we served them to the residents and the staff. Everyone thought that they were delicious!
After we finished eating and cleaning up, we played a few games. First we did bingo and it was a fun but competitive game. Some residents helped out with calling the numbers and the others played with us. After that we played UNO with the residents and the staff and it was super fun! This was the last activity of the day so after this we packed up and said our goodbyes. It was so fun to hangout with the residents again and we hope to come back soon!
