On Tuesday, June 2nd, Great Neck AYLUS hosted another successful tutoring session at the Great Neck Library Station Branch from 6:00-7:00 pm. Junlin first assisted a 5th-grade student with reading comprehension, exploring different techniques artists use to illustrate art, and also completed multiple-choice questions. Next, they worked on some mathematics questions, including addition and subtraction of positive and negative numbers, which proved more difficult than they seemed. To continue, Olivia helped another student with some maths Olympiad questions, focusing on strengthening pattern recognition for questions that involve many parts of maths. These included perfect squares, order of operations, and more. Subsequently, Linzi helped a much younger student with reading books, a first step towards developing their passion for literature and also learning vocabulary. And lastly, Brian and Summer worked together to help another student with biology, exploring the respiratory system and learning more vocabulary related to it. Overall, it was another very productive session; all the students completed their work on time and had a lot of fun. The tutoring sessions will continue on Thursday, June 4th.
