SOMA AYLUS Volunteers at Park Clean Up, May 1, 2026

On February 28, 2026, volunteers from the South Orange-Maplewood Branch of AYLUS traveled to Meadowland Park in South Orange, New Jersey, to clean up the community and rid it of litter. The members worked alongside the East Branch of the Rahway River, finding litter within the river and in the surrounding grassland. Then, members traveled to the Baird Community Center, which is a multi-functional community space containing conference rooms, dance studios, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a gymnasium, among other amenities. The members cleaned throughout the exterior of the building, especially surrounding the basketball and tennis courts. Finally, the members traveled to clean up the nearby Cameron Field Complex Playground. This effort was focused on maintaining community green spaces.
